Our History

The Holly Bush at Salt is steeped in centuries of history and is widely regarded as one of the oldest pubs in England. With origins believed to date back over 700 years, the pub has long been a cornerstone of village life in Salt, serving travellers, locals, and visitors passing through the Staffordshire countryside.

While much of the present building reflects later periods, records and local history suggest the site has operated as a licensed inn for hundreds of years, giving The Holly Bush a rich and authentic heritage. This long-standing tradition of hospitality remains at the heart of everything we do today.
